Dr. Jennifer Doran is a licensed clinical psychologist who practices in Connecticut and New York. She graduated with honors from The New School for Social Research in their clinical psychology doctorate program. Her clinical expertise is in general mental health (e.g. depression, anxiety), PTSD treatment and helping individuals heal from complex trauma, couples therapy and relationship improvement, parenting, and digital wellness.
Dr. Doran provides specialized coaching and consulting and developed YVJ’s Performance Optimization Program (POP!). Coaching services are available for individuals and groups in athletic or artistic performance, parenting, and career development and growth.
Dr. Doran is an established leader in the field and a passionate advocate for mental health and wellness for all. She has worked for the profession of psychology at the national and state levels and held several leadership and management roles throughout her career. Most recently, Dr. Doran served as the President of the Connecticut Psychological Association. She holds an academic appointment as an Assistant Professor in the Yale University School of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry.
Dr. Doran is deeply invested in psychology education and training and is a highly regarded educator and public speaker. Her program of research includes psychotherapy process and outcome, intervention effectiveness, assessment and psychometrics, traumatic stress and the treatment of PTSD, psychology education and training, and the efficacy of telemental health. She has published more than 30 scientific articles and has given numerous national and regional conference presentations. Dr. Doran is regularly featured in the media, with interviews in print and on television and radio. She has recently been featured on NBC Connecticut, in the New England Psychologist, and on Connecticut Public Radio’s award-winning show, “For the People.”
Dr. Doran holds a PSYPACT credential, which grants authorization to practice across state lines in all PSYPACT-participating states. Jennifer is the proud mother of two young boys, Ethan (8) and Joshua (5). She lives in Fairfield, Connecticut with her family. She loves being a psychologist and strongly believes that everyone deserves mental health and wellness, and that quality information about psychology should be accessible to all.
Jennifer loves music and the arts in all its forms, cooking, baking with her kids, traveling, living by the beach, playing softball, seasonal adventures, holidays and planning parties, and spending time with friends and family. She loves to teach and loves to learn. Jennifer believes that laughter truly is the best medicine and is grateful to have so many people in her life and as part of her village that make her laugh and smile.
